fantastic new music site that allows you to say what’s hot or not in music… features independent musicians… there’s an award system, achievements, that you can collect and challenges to complete… you also gain reputation and can wager that reputation on music selection…
(side note: it’s named after the famous Highway 61 that runs along the Mississippi, which I happen to grow up along in Burlington, IA)
So I was playing with the new I am T-Pain iPhone app… $2.99…
Check it out, I did that… on my iPhone… It also has some viral/social capabilities with simple emailing and posting of tracks to Facebook and Myspace.
It’s been all the rage on Twitter today…
Imogen Heap - First Train Home
She’s incredibly talented both in studio and live. Most musicians sing or play guitar live… she plays piano, sings, and uses electronic equipment. This particular video she’s using a monome, which is an open source, adaptable, minimalist interface. Essentially a grid of buttons that can be programmed to do many things and in this case a sampler and sequencer.
I have been watching the monome project for a few years and I can’t say that I have never wanted one. I’m just not musically talented enough to validate the purchase :)
