my current iPhone home screen
So I was playing with the new I am T-Pain iPhone app… $2.99…
Check it out, I did that… on my iPhone… It also has some viral/social capabilities with simple emailing and posting of tracks to Facebook and Myspace.
It’s been all the rage on Twitter today…
Thoughts on the iPhone 3GS
A few thoughts and a little back story…
So I’ve had an iPhone for a year and a half, bought the 3G on the 2nd day. Waited on purchasing the first generation, strangely enough. Typically I’m an early adopter… early early adopter.
Then I got my motorcycle. I went to kick start the bike and SMASH!!!
The screen was still functional, but smashed.
Fast forward to yesterday. I woke up and tried to use the phone and the Home Button was not functional. A restore, reboot, clean wipe later… still nothing. The phone became unusable with no Home Button.
So I had to go out and buy a new phone, paying more than the standard subsidized price because I wasn’t through with my 2 year agreement and I broke the device.
So I got the new iPhone 3GS. Built in 3 MP camera, video recording and editing, digital compass, and a HUGE upgrade in memory and CPU.
Here’s a sample video:
With that said, the thoughts on the production quality of the iPhone came to mind…
- When there’s a large iPhone case market, you might have made your device too fragile or too slippery.
- When the most fragile parts of the phone are also the most needed to operate the phone, aka the Home Button, you might want to redesign it.
- I understand that it’s a design flaw to make the device be more rugged, but after 3 iterations (excuse me, generations) of the dang thing… at least improve the durability of it.
- Where’s the insurance on the phone?
I mean seriously… there are many people out there who have dropped their phones and have broken them. It might mean you should pay closer attention to the durability of the device… just sayin’
