Just to add some more content (and lighten things up), here’s ZeFrank on Health Care…
On Health Care
So it’s no surprise that I’m a fan of universal health care… Outside of people having the knowledge to treat themselves, I also realize that no plan or effort will be perfect. Metaphorically, the second law of thermodynamics comes into play and we all die anyway.
With that said, I want to express my thoughts, which because I’m a scientist, I have to assume that my thoughts could change…
The conservative viewpoint: “Why would you let the government decide when Grandma dies?” aka The Sarah Palin “death panel” argument. Because, surely the government doesn’t have any say over when people die. Oh wait, “I do believe that if the death penalty is administered swiftly, justly and fairly, it saves lives.” - George W. Bush (source)
The conservative statistic about wait times for health care. Could it be, that maybe, just maybe more people are getting healthier or are at least trying. Even if it’s true that the wait times would be longer, I can’t honestly stand here and say that I deserve faster health care than the next person who has the exact same illness. Systems where there are more level playing fields will even themselves out. This kind of statistic breeds I’m entitled to better health care than thou mindsets…
Ahh, that feels better… I mean, I know that there are some conservative people listening to this… and feel free to comment. Keep it to a debate and to the facts, leave out the personal flame… and we can all have good conversation…
