Groupon
Groupon is a unique new startup that’s getting a ton of press, recently for valuation at $250MM.
The idea is a combination of woot and time sharing… There’s a daily deal for a percentage off it’s regular price from a local retailer. If you like the deal, you can pledge to buy it. The deal only works though, if a certain (pre-determined) number of people pledge to buy it as well. Once there’s enough people, the deal goes through and everyone gets the Groupon.
