So today at work... during lunch I gave a Mind Meld (read: geeking outsession about technology over lunch provided by the company)...
:: cue strange, eery sounding Flashback music ::
Originally they were scheduled (supposedly) once a month and each time there was adifferent technology that the presenter was passionate about. Times changed and so didthe people; the event was no longer being held.
Then came Jake. I like to think of myselfas somewhat motivated... but there was talk of bringing back the Mind Melds! Since one ofmy goals in life is to become known in the software development world (via presentations, books I'm going to write, etc. etc.) , I thought hey, why not step up and talk. I thinkeveryone who knows me well enough knows that I love to talk geek...
After some pressure and political tossing around, I took the initiative (after ananonymous push), scheduled the meeting and had the pizza's ordered for lunch.

I originally wanted to do a crazy introduction... like I always used to do atcollege... either a) play some cool industrial music with lots of colorful laser lightswhile a deep voice says... ENTER THE BLOGOSPHERE! with flashing strobe lights... or b)bust in the door with my curly hair in a sweat band acting like Richard Simmons screamingBlogging to the Oldies... neither happened...
The presentation went well, IMHO (read: in my humble opinion)... had12 people show up , mainly for the free pizza, but at least there was some chiming in andcomments during the talk. It was also nice to have people in the audience who knew what Iwas talking about and also other people who actually WANTED to know what I was talkingabout. I tried getting a few laughs... it went well! I'm happy.. and full from the pizza, what more could I ask for?
If you were there today and are reading this.. leave me some feedback.. constructive;)
