The show was fantastic! Lots of really great, new content… Most comedians stick to their normal punch lines from their largest cds… but Daniel only did that at the very end when people were shouting for it… Great stuff! Even a hilarious Dane Cook stab… The tickets were only $25 too…
We got seats in the front row… literally 4 from the middle. But let me tell you quick how we got there… We show up at 8pm; the front section is first come first serve… so we figured, the first show started at 8pm, why not get there then and wait in line. We saw a gigantic line that wrapped around into the parking lot. After waiting for 30 minutes, going through security and getting wrist bands… when they actually checked our tickets they laughed and sent us back. The gigantic line was for the 8pm show, which was starting very late… heh… so We ended up staying for a few drinks and getting back in line, eventually being the first group in line.
The only other time I’ve been up front at a concert/event is for Poison at Steamboat Days in Burlington… wasted :)
I’m so incredibly stoked… going to see Daniel Tosh at the House of Blues on Saturday… got us front section seats, so we’ll be in one of the front three rows (first come first serve)…
The poor thing is growing like a weed! We got her in January at 6 lbs… she’s now 35 lbs… she’s only 5 months old, but she is still trying to pretend she’s a little tiny puppy ;)
I haven’t posted a picture of Lucy in a while… she’s grown quite a bit, up to 30+ lbs… from the 6 lbs we got her (pictured here)
Things are going really well… we have her in puppy classes where we are learning to click train her, she’s starting to behave better and the frequent visits to the dog park are helping out!
Btw, the picture above came from Becca and Lucy’s new blog Longhorn Lucy… check it out! Go leave some comments…
For those of us using ActionMailer in our Ruby projects… you might want to check your subjects if you’re integrating with an automated system.
Spent a few hours debugging a situation where I was sending out emails to an automated system that parses the subject line… watched the email go through and the system send me back responses that were not paying attention to the subject data.
I started with the end points (the responses) and worked my back through code until I realized (through carefully timed queries) that when the emails leave ActionMailer and get sent through the system that a call to mail.encoded was happening:
Found in /opt/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/actionmailer-1.3.3/lib/action_mailer/base.rb:
def perform_delivery_sendmail(mail) IO.popen("#{sendmail_settings[:location]} #{sendmail_settings[:arguments]}","w+") do |sm| sm.print(mail.encoded.gsub(/
/, '')) sm.flush end end
So I checked my email record and called mail.encoded…. and to my suprise an extra “ ” appeared in my message.
After some spot checking I realized that ActionMailer was adding this when the subject line reached 190+ characters…
AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! These kinds of assumptions kill a person when they don’t know. I tried looking through documentation and it’s not there… and I know automated systems should account for things, well actually… RFC2822 suggests header folding, so whatever.
But at any rate… just wanted to put this out there to maybe help someone else!
Strange issue with using Google Apps and Safari on Leopard…
So I used to go to my Google Apps account and check email and my calendar by clicking on of these nice integrated links:
But as of lately, on both of my domains in Safari, they aren’t showing up at all. What’s even more odd is that another account I tried was showing up, just not my two personal ones.
So I snagged Camino, visited the site, and sure enough, they showed up.
Went back into the site with Safari and guess what, they links were back. Strange.
It’s time again for me to make a career move. I know I’ve been flip flopping between .Net and Ruby… but this opportunity can’t be passed up.
I’ve talked about drop.io before, but now I get to work on it from the inside again.
That’s right, I’m leaving Inetium and am heading over to help out the team at drop.io… they have a fantastic setup, a great development staff, motivating leaders, and are ready to storm SXSW this weekend. I’m super excited to be a part of a hot new startup.
So go ahead and check out the thoughts to blog drop and leave some love… you’ll be playing around with features that the team and I have/will be working on!
I’ve been super busy this week (next post will explain some of it)… but I have been passing off client knowledge to other developers, grilling out on my new grill, spending time with Becca and Lucy, and doing other life things away from my blog.
To my readers: you’ll live
:)
Some other things that have been keeping me busy: COD4, Judgment Day (DVD), my new printer, walking the puppy, puppy classes, reading, etc…
