If any of you Rails developers (or even better… .Net converts) haven’t seen PeepCode yet, you should check it out!

Geoffrey Grosenbach, the dude who has brought you many good articles on nuby on rails… gives you the heads up on things you’ve always wanted to know about Rails but were too afraid to ask.
And check this out… so I was an old school PeepCode user… and he graciously gave me credits on the new checkout system so that my old purchases were tied to my account! The response even came within one day… great customer service there!
(there are even free resources and previews)

So yeah… I hit the big 26 today.
Had a fantastic time at Gasthof’s last night… in fact, I’m so incredibly tired today.
Must be the old age.
And so what did I do with myself today? Got a hair cut and bought myself a MacBook Pro. Wanted one for a while so I finally owned up and bought one. It’s tight.
At any rate, thanks to all the peeps who came out to see me… and thanks for all of the phone calls and messages! Makes me feel loved!

It’s finally here…
Video for Ray
This has been an ongoing project from the show with zefrank and it really shows what a committed, respected user base can accomplish.
The short? There was a audio clip that blipped on the interwebs that contained a man writing a song “I’m gonna whip somebody’s ass”. That man was Ray and the awesome people of the ORG decided to remix the song and create a music video. Fantastic. If that happened, ZeFrank was going to deliver the video to Ray himself… somehow finding him. Here’s some more documentation on Ray
here are the details about the video

I finished up Michael Crichton’s Next this past weekend…

It was a decent book… the plot wasn’t very roller coaster, pretty straight forward.
An easy read that brings up real and imaginary scenarios. I liked the mix of fiction / non-fiction. And of course, things around genetics always interests me.
Worth a borrow for a genetics / biology geek to push through in a few weeks…
What’s the next read?
Finishing The God Delusion - Richard Dawkins and starting Founders At Work - Jessica Livingston (hat tip to BenR). Should be good.

I was eating some lunch today… and it suddenly came to me that there needs to be a new social networking site.
This site should be completely dedicated to the eradication and destruction of every bean on the entire Earth.
welcome SayNoToBeans.com (yeah, I really registered it, there’s NOTHING there yet)
What are the goals?
- A biographic profile of every type of bean… with pictures
- A Google Maps mashup of bean haters around the world
- Tips and Tricks to avoid beans in meals
- Alternatives to beans and bean resources
- Things to watch out for when restaurants hide beans and sneak them into the system.
Wouldn’t that be sweet? Maybe a “Smash a Bean” video contest…
The possibilities are endless!

Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) slammed the U.S. military’s ban on gay servicemembers, saying the Pentagon “seems more afraid of gay people than they are [of] terrorists,†and that if the terrorists were smart, “they’d get a platoon of lesbians to chase us out of Baghdad.â€Â

Here are some things to chew on:
Thoughts on Music - Steve Jobs (hat tip http://project.ioni.st/)
Steve goes into explaining DRM, it’s purpose, and possible ways to get rid of it (as most people want). Imagine a world where you can get music at any shop and play it on any device… Sounds good right? According to the article, Steve wants Apple to try to take it in that direction. What are the drawbacks? Music bigwigs want to control the music… and DRM is their one stop solution to controlling what you listen to… yet still get you to pay. It’s funny as how 90% of music sold world wide is DRM-free on CDs… 20billion songs to be exact… while DRM is on a measly 2billion… The middle ground of making DRM open license is a step in the right direction, but DRM eradication would be the best!
CNN Has Panel on Atheism, without Atheists (hat tip http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/)
CNN does a story on a “ostracized” atheist family… with people quoting that it’s Atheists’ fault that it’s like this in America. Militant Atheists are bringing the shunning… The quickly go to a panel afterwards… but guess what? There were no Atheists on the panel. WTF? Seriously… how can you have a panel discussion without having all of the sides of the story? Aside from the thoughts on Atheists’ bringing their own demise (which is funny, because there are many Christian’s who feel oppressed)… the idea of having a balanced panel being composed of people of faith talking about Atheism, is not responsible. Blah
RIP Two-Faced Calf
It absolutely amazes me when nature brings us twists… like the two-faced calf… or two-headed snake… or Cy the cat. These are the only human observed rarities… and genetic mutations that are taking place… yet there are people in the world that believe that evolution doesn’t happen. Seriously. Obviously the faithful folk will instantly ring … “It was God’s choice to bring them into this world and take them quickly…” But that’s too easy for me.
Isn’t Cy cute?
